About Garden Gal

Yep, that’s me—gardening in my sweatpants. I’m Kayleigh O’Malley, founder of Garden Gal, established in 2022 in Portland, OR. Before starting Garden Gal, I had the privilege of training with The Organic Gardener and The Village Gardener in Chicago, IL, where I gained hands-on experience in organic produce and flower gardening.
 

Although I grew up in the concrete jungle of Chicago, my heart has always been rooted in the soil. As a child, my favorite pastime was “playing farm,” mixing up “soups” and “potions” from whatever I could find in the garden. I would pick flowers and hang them to dry in a little nook I carved out in a neighbor’s bush—an early sign that nature was my safe space.
 

It wasn’t until I experienced a few of life’s tragedies that I truly rediscovered the haven I found in nature. My return to the garden, this time, wasn’t for play, but for healing. The garden became a place of restoration, peace, and growth. Today, through Garden Gal, I share that same sense of renewal with others, helping people connect with the land and uncover the healing power that gardens can bring.
